Department of Practical English

There are about 1.5 billion people in the world who speak English, or 20% of the total population, so English is now the undisputed international or global language. Moreover, at a time when Korean wave cultural contents are gaining popularity around the world, learning English as a foreigner is now indispensable. The Department of Practical English produces English experts specialized in various fields under the department's slogan, "Nurturing Global English Experts and Storytellers to Communicate with the World."

Objectives

The curriculum of the Practical English major consists of a basic course to improve the four skills for communication: listening, speaking, reading, and writing, and a specialized course for four majors, including (English) storytelling, missionary English, tourism, interpretation and translation, and TESOL. We have good online lectures and faculty members graduated from the universities in the U.S.A. We offer various lectures and activities online as well as offline such as monthly special lectures, storytelling clubs and concerts, 1 to 1 student-professor counseling, athletic festivals, orientation, and outdoor retreats. And we sincerely help our students obtain their bachelor's degree successfully until they complete it.

    Many graduates who have successfully completed these courses have gone on to prestigious graduate schools at home and abroad, and have worked as English professionals(i.e., English fairy talers and storytellers, K-contents interpreter and translator, private teachers at kindergarten and schools, business workers, missionaries, domestic tour guides for foreigners etc.).
